StellarQ My — User Guide for Patients, Authorised Representatives, and Close Persons

Overview

StellarQ My is a mobile application that allows you to complete questionnaires sent by your care team, report clinical events (e.g. epileptic seizures), and communicate with your care team. The application is available in Finnish, English, and Swedish.

StellarQ My is not an emergency service and does not replace emergency care. In an emergency, call 112. For urgent health concerns, contact your care unit by phone or visit the emergency department.

Using the application requires that your care team has activated self-reporting for you. Activation is performed by your care team, for example in connection with recording a diagnosis or sending a questionnaire request. Before activation, the application will not display any questionnaires or other content.

StellarQ My is part of the StellarQ software, which is a CE-marked medical device under the Medical Device Directive (MDD 93/42/EEC). Your care team uses the software for the long-term follow-up of your condition. The questionnaires you complete and the events you report form part of the clinical data on which your care team bases treatment decisions.

Installing the Application

Download the StellarQ My application from your device's app store (App Store or Google Play). After installation, open the application and proceed to log in.

Installation typically occurs in connection with an invitation or request sent by your care team. The message directs you to a web page where you can find information about self-reporting and links to download the application.

Logging In

There are two ways to log in:

Electronic identification (suomi.fi) Log in to the application using your bank credentials or mobile certificate via suomi.fi authentication. This is the primary login method.

One-time code If you do not have bank credentials or a mobile certificate available, your care team can create a one-time code for you. The one-time code is valid for a limited time only, and you receive it from the healthcare staff. Typically, the one-time code is given during a clinic visit. To log in:

  1. Open StellarQ My and tap Log In

  2. Select One-Time Code as the login method

  3. Enter your date of birth

  4. Enter the one-time code received from your care team

  5. Tap LOG IN

Acting on behalf of a patient If you are acting on behalf of a patient, you need a valid suomi.fi authorisation. Log in to the application with your own credentials — the system recognises the authorisation automatically.

Confirming Your Contact Information

When you log in to StellarQ My, you will be asked to confirm your phone number and email address if they differ from the contact details recorded for you in your care organisation's StellarQ system. You must provide either a phone number or an email address, but you do not need to provide both.

You can continue to use the application without confirming your contact information, but you will not be able to receive messages from your care team until you have confirmed it. Confirming your contact information ensures that messages from your care team reach you at the correct phone number or email address.

Completing and Saving Questionnaires

Your care team can send you a request to complete specific questionnaires by a due date. Open requests are displayed on the application's home screen.

Completing questionnaires:

  • Open the request from the home screen

  • Answer all questions in the questionnaire

  • Review your answers and save the questionnaire

If you have not yet completed all requested questionnaires, the application sends reminders 7, 2, and 1 days before the due date. After the due date, requested questionnaires are no longer available for completion.

In some cases, questionnaires may also be offered for you to complete at your own pace without a specific request or due date. A questionnaire completed at your own pace can be edited within 24 hours of saving.

For epilepsy patients, self-reporting consists of a seizure diary and communication — there are no separate self-reporting questionnaires. You can edit your reported seizures until your care team has confirmed them. After confirmation, seizure data can no longer be edited.

Your completed questionnaires are retained in the application's history indefinitely. In the epilepsy seizure diary, your reported seizures are visible in the application for a period of six months. Older seizure records remain available to your care team.

MS questionnaire special features. The Relapse Suspicion (MS) questionnaire asks whether your symptoms started suddenly and whether you have fever or other signs of infection. If you answer yes, the software displays an important safety notice: sudden onset of paralysis symptoms, severe headache, and/or speech difficulties is usually caused by something other than MS, and you should immediately contact the nearest emergency department or call the emergency number 112. You may still continue completing the questionnaire.

After the Neurological Symptoms questionnaire, the software may recommend additional questionnaires if your reported fatigue or cognitive symptoms exceed a certain level. After saving the FSMC questionnaire, you will see your fatigue scores and their interpretation, as well as general information on fatigue symptoms and tips for managing them in daily life. After saving the MSNQ questionnaire, you will see your cognitive scores and their interpretation, as well as general information on cognitive symptoms and tips for managing them in daily life.

Communication with the Care Team

StellarQ My enables non-urgent communication with your care team. The communication feature is available if your healthcare organisation has enabled it.

You can send text messages and images (.jpg, .png) to your care team. The care team can send you text messages, images, and documents (.pdf).

Communication is not real-time. Do not use communication for urgent matters.

Depending on your organisation, you can either initiate new conversations or only reply to conversations initiated by your care team.

Proxy Reporting by a Close Person

If you are the patient's close person and the care team has asked you to complete questionnaires about the patient, log in to the StellarQ My application using suomi.fi authentication. You will find open questionnaire requests on the application's home screen. Your reported data is visible only to the care team — the patient cannot see data reported by a close person.

Safety Instructions and Limitations

  • StellarQ My is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 112. For urgent health concerns, contact your care unit or the emergency department.

  • Your reported data goes to your care team. Your care team reviews and evaluates your questionnaire responses and events. The system does not make clinical decisions.

  • Complete questionnaires carefully. Treatment decisions are based in part on the data you report. Incorrectly reported data may affect your care.

  • Shared devices. If you use StellarQ My on a clinic tablet, always log out after use. Do not log in to a shared tablet with your bank credentials — use a one-time code.

  • In case of problems, contact your care unit or StellarQ support at support@stellarq.com.

  • Suspect a device malfunction? If you notice unusual behaviour in the application — for example, a questionnaire does not save, data appears incorrect, or the application behaves unexpectedly — report it to your care team.

Information about the processing of your data can be found in the privacy notice at my.stellarq.fi/en/privacy-policy. Information about the application's accessibility is available in the accessibility statement at my.stellarq.fi/en/accessibility-statement. If the application's accessibility prevents you from completing questionnaires, you can complete them with the assistance of your care team during a clinic visit.

When your care team discontinues the use of the StellarQ service or your care relationship ends, your access to the StellarQ My application will end. The healthcare region responsible for your care is thereafter responsible for the retention and processing of your stored data in accordance with their privacy notice and applicable legislation. For data protection questions, contact your care unit.
